I just finished reading a VERY abridged version of 20,000 leagues under the sea to my son--97 pages in large print. Now it's been a few years (12) since I read the non-abridged version. But I can't be the only person to have seen a similarity between Snape and Captain Nemo. Black hair, black eyes, the whole moral-ambiguousness....
